AC01 Korean Air Flight 801 ( Boeing 747-3 - B5 KE801, KAL801) crashed on 6 August 1997 on approach to PGUM Guam for runway 6L, killing 228 of the 254 people aboard.The day of the accident, there was heavy rain with poor visibility and the ILS system for runway 06L, was out of service.
AC02 Boeing B737-300 Helios Airways Flight 522 was a scheduled Helios Airways passenger flight that crashed into a mountain on 14 August 2005 at 12:04 pm EEST, north of Marathon and Varnavas, Greece, while flying from Larnaca, Cyprus, to Athens, Greece. A lack of oxygen incapacitated the crew, leading to the aircraft's eventual crash after running out of fuel. Rescue teams located the wreckage near the community of Grammatiko, 40 km (25 mi) from Athens. All 115 passengers and six crew on board the aircraft were killed.
AC03 Aloha Airlines Flight 243 (AQ 243, AAH 243) was a scheduled Aloha Airlines flight between Hilo and Honolulu in Hawaii. On April 28, 1988, a Boeing 737-297 serving the flight suffered extensive damage after an explosive decompression in flight, but was able to land safely at Kahului Airport on Maui.
AC04 American Airlines Flight 191 was a regularly scheduled passenger flight operated by American Airlines from O'Hare International Airport in Chicago to Los Angeles International Airport. A McDonnell Douglas DC-10-10 used for this flight on May 25, 1979, crashed moments after takeoff from Chicago. All 258 passengers and 13 crew on board were killed, along with 2 people on the ground.Cause:Engine detachment during takeoof and loss of control in the air.
AC05 Aerolinee Itavia Flight 870 (IH 870, AJ 421) was an Italian commercial flight operated by a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-15 which crashed into the Tyrrhenian Sea between Ponza and Ustica, killing all 81 on board, while en route from Bologna, Italy, to Palermo, Italy, 27 June 1980. Known in the Italian media as the Ustica Massacre "Strage di Ustica".
AC06 American Airlines Flight 1420 was a flight from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to Little Rock National Airport in the United States. On June 1, 1999, the McDonnell Douglas MD-82 operating for Flight 1420 overran the runway upon landing in Little Rock and crashed. 11 of the 145 people aboard, the captain and ten passengers, were killed in the crash.Cause Runway 04R excursion in inclement weather due to pilot error.
AC07 Chalk's Ocean Airways Flight 101 was an aircraft crash that occurred off Miami Beach, Florida, in the United States on December 19, 2005. All 20 passengers and crew on board the 1947 Grumman G-73T Turbine Mallard died in the crash, which was attributed to metal fatigue on the starboard wing resulting in separation of the wing from the fuselage.
MEM01 IN MEMORY OF FLIGHT GERMANWINGS 4U 9525. An Airbus A320 carrying 150 people from Barcelona to Dusseldorf crashed into an alpine mountainside Tuesday 24 after an unexplained 8-minute descent, leaving no apparent survivors and two countries in mourning. All 150 passengers and crew on an Airbus A320 flying from Barcelona to Dusseldorf are believed dead after it rapidly lost height and began an as yet unexplained descent into a remote and mountainous area of southern France. The chief executive of Lufthansa, Germanwings, said the aircraft reached its cruising height of 38,000ft at 10.45am, 44 minutes into the flight, and began the descent just a minute or two later. Contact was lost at 10.53am when the plane was at 6,000ft. Initial reports said a distress call was made by the pilots at 10.47am but French authorities later said this was not the case. AC09 American Airlines Flight 965 was a regularly scheduled flight from Miami International Airport in Miami Florida to Alfonso Bonilla Aragón International Airport in Cali Colombia.On December 20, 1995 the Boeing 757-200 flying this route registration N651AA crashed into a mountain in Buga Colombia killing 151 passengers and eight crew members.The crash was the first U.S. owned 757 accident and the highest death toll of any accident in Colombia.The 757 take off at 6:35 pm, 1 hour 21 minutes late, from runway 27R. The approach was initially for runway 19 then changed for runway 01. Pilots went off course during this change and crash into a mountain.
